A FOX 4 article titled "More Missourians Now Eligible for COVID-19 Vaccine, but Many Still Having Trouble Signing Up
" states that 500,000 Missourians are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine as Missouri is now in Phase 1B-Tier 3. But many are questioning the state's decision as many people in the previous tiers are still struggling to schedule a vaccine appointment.
The president and CEO of Truman Medical Centers, University Health, Charlie Shields, says people on the Jackson County list will be reached out to through the Vaccine Navigator System to get them scheduled for an appointment. People can also sign up on the state's website, but it has become frustrating for many people as appointments get filled as soon as they open up.
Governor Mike Parson's office released a statement to the public to inform that the vaccine supply has been significantly increasing and to expect it to continue increasing over the next several weeks with incoming supplies of the three authorized vaccines.
The statement also adds: "We continue to work with the group of more than 1,000 enrolled providers to ensure they are ready for this new pace that is to come. With that said, the current supply is still outstripped by demand which means prioritization of individuals based on risk will continue to occur. We expect Missouri will make significant progress in vaccination efforts over the next month."
